Kia has unveiled the new 2026 K4 hatchback at the 2024 New York International Auto Show. With a modern design, practical space, and up-to-date technologies, this new version is set to replace the K4 sedan and compete directly with rivals such as the Honda Civic Hatchback, Mazda 3, and Toyota Corolla Hatchback.
Appearance design
The Kia K4 hatchback has a bold face with an attractive design and sharp lines. Its roof has a "floating" shape, which, combined with the door handles hidden in the C-pillar, gives the car a sportier and more modern look. The sharp cut at the rear and the gentle slope of the roof both add to the car's attractive styling and provide good headroom for rear passengers.
Interior
While the overall length of the K4 hatchback is shorter than the sedan, there is a noticeable increase in rear legroom and headroom. Kia says the rear cargo space is 22.2 cubic feet, which is slightly less than the Honda Civic hatchback (24.8 cubic feet), but still very practical. The cabin materials are of high quality, and the dashboard design is very minimal and technological. The Kia K4 hatchback has a bold face with an attractive design and sharp lines. Engine and performance: two choices for two driving styles
The K4 hatchback is available with two engine options:
A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower and a CVT automatic transmission – perfect for economical everyday driving.
A 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 190 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic transmission – in the sporty GT-Line Turbo version with high performance and faster response.
The GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo versions feature a sports suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels and some exclusive exterior features for a sportier look.
Safety technology and features
The K4 hatchback’s cabin is nothing short of tech. In front of the driver are two 12.3-inch digital displays; one for the digital speedometer and the other for the infotainment system. Smartphone connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.
In terms of safety, the car is equipped with features such as:
Adaptive cruise control
Lane-keeping system
Autonomous emergency braking
And, in higher versions, Highway Driving Assist
to provide a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
Availability and price
No official pricing details have been released, but expect prices to be slightly higher than the sedan, starting at around $23,165 and going up to $31,860 for the GT-Line Turbo. The car is scheduled to go on sale in the US later this year and will be in dealerships soon.
