Introducing the Kia EV4, Kia Motors’ newest electric sedan

Kia has finally revealed the production version of its electric sedan, more than a year after unveiling the Kia EV4 concept. The car, which is part of Kia’s broader electrification strategy, will be offered in both sedan and hatchback body styles. The production model’s design is very similar to the concept, but with some minor changes, including the use of traditional side mirrors and flush door handles that help improve the car’s aerodynamics. Kia will also offer a GT-Line version of both models, which features special 19-inch wheels and a sportier design.

Appearance design

At first glance, the EV4 sedan, with its sloping roof, looks like a five-door liftback like the Kia Stinger, but the low-slung design line suggests that this is actually a traditional sedan. The interesting thing about this model’s design is its relatively long rear overhang, which seems a bit unusual for a car built on a dedicated electric platform. In contrast, the EV4 hatchback has a more conventional design and, unlike the sedan, offers a more compact rear view. However, both models follow Kia’s new design language and have many modern elements in their appearance. At the front, vertical lights and a special front bumper design attract attention, while at the rear, slim vertical lights give the car a futuristic look. Kia has designed different front bumpers for both versions to differentiate them.

Unveiling and technical specifications

Kia plans to officially unveil the EV4 on February 24th at the Kia EV Day event in Tarragona, Spain. Full technical details won't be released until February 27th. It's not yet clear whether the EV4 will make it to the U.S. market, but it's expected to be positioned above the EV3 small crossover. In addition to the EV4, Kia will also unveil a more economical EV2 at the event. That model is likely to be limited to Europe and Asia, and is unlikely to make it to the U.S.

Kia's goal with the EV4

Kia has shown its intention to expand its electric vehicle portfolio and offer more options to customers in different markets with the introduction of the EV4. Considering the modern design and features of this car, the EV4 could be a serious competitor to the Tesla Model 3 and other electric sedans on the market. It seems that with this model, Kia will offer a combination of attractive design, strong performance and reasonable price to capture more market share in the world of electric vehicles. As the unveiling date approaches, we will have to wait and see if Kia can meet expectations with the EV4 and further solidify its position in the electric vehicle market.
