Nissan Murano 2025: luxury, powerful and innovative

Nissan calls the 2025 Murano a "road haven." It's the first Murano to offer massaging front seats as an option, though all Murano models get a new digital cockpit with two 12.3-inch screens. Also, for the first time on this car, 21-inch wheels are available on Platnum versions. Nissan Safety Shield 360 safety system is offered as standard in this car. The car has been completely redesigned from front to back and has a new engine under the hood that ditches the unpopular continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Considering that the previous Murano model was introduced in 2015, some people may consider the new model late. However, everyone can read it older, albeit a little older; The fourth generation of this crossover is 2.6 inches wider and has almost 2 inches more ground clearance. The overall length and height are almost the same as the previous model, and the wheelbase remains the same at 111.2 inches. These dimensions result in similar interior space, with slightly less rear legroom (36.3 inches) and slightly more front legroom (44.3 inches).

However, the Murano's appeal has never been about the small interior dimensions. Since its launch in 2003, this crossover's claim to fame has been its distinctive design, and that's still true. Nissan has used a split headlight design, ditching the large headlights and sharp contrast angles in favor of thin lights atop a nearly symmetrical grille. The design is somewhat similar to the new Kicks, but Nissan has retained the V-Motion design in the center of the Murano's grille, with a broad smiley face and LED lights at the corners of the grille.

Inside the cabin, an extensive and much-needed redesign has been done. The aforementioned two digital screens are the highlight of the interior of the 2025 Murano model, which has removed almost all physical keys and replaced them with digital and touch controls similar to the Aria model. Google technology is installed internally and is part of a technology package that includes options such as ProPilot Assist 1.1, an Invisible Hood view to "see" through the engine, and a 3D Intelligent Around View camera.

Along with this complete redesign, an all-new powertrain has also been introduced. The old V6 and CVT have been completely ditched in favor of a 2.0-liter variable compression turbocharged engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces 241 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque in the Murano. That's 19 fewer horsepower than the previous model, but a 20 pound-feet increase in torque. As for the gearbox, it drives the front wheels as standard and all-wheel drive is available as an option.

Pricing for the 2025 Murano model will be announced closer to the launch date, which is set for early next year. Based on the current prices, it is expected that the starting price will start in the $40,000 range, and the four-wheel drive version of the Platnum will be offered with a possible price ceiling of more than $50,000.
